David Ufton Awarded XML Developer of the Year by Oracle

Thursday Feb 01, 2007

EnergySys are proud to announce that Oracle Magazine has chosen Mr David Ufton, Senior Software Guru and Ace Thespian, as XML Developer of the Year in their fifth annual Editors Choice awards. David has been a leader in the development of the ENERGYSYS hydrocarbon accounting product, the first application in its area that is truly configurable by the end user. Kay Keppler, Senior Features Editor at Oracle Magazine, stated that David was chosen based on his “enterprise, hard work, and enthusiasm as well as his creativity in developing XML-based solutions”.

EnergySys, a Digital Steps Company, has a reputation for innovation and technical excellence built on the skills and experience of its staff. David and his colleagues are establishing leadership positions in Java, XML and RDF technologies, and their use to generate solutions to complex problems that provide real and measurable benefits to the company’s clients. David said: “I’m extremely pleased to be recognised with this honour, though I really share it with the rest of my colleagues who work with me to create opportunities from advanced technology. In doing so, we rely on the innovations that our partners produce, not least being Oracle’s XML technologies”.

Dr Peter Black, Managing Director of EnergySys Limited, added his congratulations, and thanked Oracle for their support for his team’s efforts. He commented: “What sets us apart from our competitors is our commitment to the development of extraordinary individuals like David and the rest of our team, but we really could not have achieved the pace of development we have without the superb support of the Oracle team. They are first-class partners.”

An interview with David will appear in the November/December issue of Oracle Magazine, and an engraved trophy was awarded during the Oracle OpenWorld 2006 conference in San Francisco.
