EnergySys today unveils a completely new visual identity, and a remade web site.
This is the result of a process that began in the summer of 2011 when the board at EnergySys decided to make some strategic changes to the way the company is perceived. David Petherick was appointed as Head of Marketing, and began a careful selection process involving some of the top design outfits in Scotland. In the end, we appointed Whitespace, the Edinburgh digital designers, who have patiently helped us along the road in the creation and application of our new identity.
We believe that good design gives us a competitive advantage, and we’ll also be working our new visual style into our products. We hope you agree that we have created a better design. The values we wanted to show through were that EnergySys is:-
These are not the default values that might first spring to mind when one thinks of oil and gas software, but then, our way of doing things is very distinct – so our identity now clearly signposts that difference. We also wanted to make it clear that EnergySys is about eliminating the complexity of IT, and getting rid of everything that does not add value. So we made our site less verbose, visually more attractive – and we hope, more intuitive to use.
Becoming more sociable…
We’re also more visible on social media, with a steadily growing group ‘Cloud Computing for Oil and Gas‘ on LinkedIn, and a presence on Twitter and Google Plus. Our team have also been getting creative with instagram photos of clouds, and are sharing these too.
It’s taken us a lot of thinking, quite a few long discussions, and maybe, too much coffee! We had a lot of ideas that at first seemed wonderful, but then on closer scrutiny, looked terrible. In all, it’s taken almost eight months to get everything marshalled here, from business cards to twitter avatar, web templates to email signatures, exhibition pull-ups to gift USB drives. But we think it’s been worth the long hours and hard work.
Now we leave you to enjoy the movie – yes, we made a movie – and look forward to hearing your opinions about our new visual identity. Please share our movie with your colleagues, or in our YouTube channel.
